Regulated Traffic Zone (RTZ) : instructions for use

 

What is an RTZ ?

A Regulated Traffic Zone (RTZ) is a zone where road traffic is restricted to local residents and their families, and people working in the area. The aim is to facilitate and ensure the safety of official convoy traffic and the transport of veterans, invited guests and police and emergency services.

The RTZ for the 75th anniversary of the Normandy Landings will only be in effect on 6 June. It will affect 121 communes, extending from Ouistreham to Isigny sur Mer.

 

Who will it affect ?

  • Permanent and temporary residents of the RTZ and their families, people with second homes, hotel guests and campsite residents.
  • Professionals working in the RTZ.
  • People involved in day-to-day economic and social activities in the area (employees, health professionals, home service providers)

How to travel in the RTZ ?

To travel in the RTZ on 6 June, it is first necessary to request a vehicle sticker from your town hall whether or not you are a resident of the zone.

  • Sticker is mandatory for the people who wish to enter in the ZCR the June 6, during activation device.
  • Sticker is mandatory for the people who wish to leave the ZCR and to enter there again, during the day of June 6, during activation device.
  • Sticker does not allow access to roads closed to traffic and reserved for the circulation of delegations and processions.
  • Sticker is not mandatory for the people who wish to move from a point A to a point B within the ZCR and who are already there during activation device.
  • Sticker is not mandatory for the people who are in the ZCR et want to leave the ZCR permanently during activation device.
